One of the reasons Harvest is later than usual this year

This picture kind of says it all.   For the first 8 months of 2014 the coldest anomaly on the planet is over Wisconsin.

At the same time, it is a bit scarey how much red and pink there is, and how little blue is on that image.

Hi! Great blog - really happy to come across it. Are you still using a high tunnel over some of your vines? It seems like a great idea, but I haven't found many people who have tried it.

Unfortunately, I had a storm take the plastic off of it a few years ago. It was the second time, and it was taking too much of my time to maintain. If I could have been on top of it, I would have kept it going. All 4 grape cultivars were surviving and I was able to have one harvest. The chardonnay turned out quite good, the Cab franc and Cab sauvignon were a little under ripe. I may try the high tunnel again, but I will have to have it closer to properly maintain it. Cheers.
